How many items can I check out at once?

Each patron can have up to five books checked out at any one time.

What if my book is returned late? Will I be charged a fee?

Nobody likes late fees, so it's simple: there aren't any. However, please keep in mind that other students and teachers would like to read some of the books you may have checked out, so please be kind and return them when you're finished reading them!

If you lose a book, you will be asked to pay the cost of replacing it.

Can I borrow ebooks or audiobooks?

Unfortunately, school libraries don't have the resources or funding the maintain a robust digital collection, so the QJS LLC does not have ebooks or digital audiobooks available to borrow. 

​

HOWEVER, the CRD Public Library has a great selection of digital resources (including ebooks and audiobooks) through the Libby app. It's easy to use - all you need to start borrowing is a public library card and a smartphone!

What if I want a book and it's not in the library?

If the book is in our library collection, but someone currently has it checked out, you can ask Ms. Ratzburg to place a hold for you. That way, when the book is returned we know to tell you that it is available now!

If the book is NOT in our library collection, but it exists at another school, we can do an inter-library loan for you. That means we'll contact the school that has the book and get them to send it to QJS using bus mail.

If the book isn't in any collection in the school district, Ms. Ratzburg can order it in for you. :-)

Can the LLC help me with technology?

You bet! If you have an assignment (or a personal passion project) that you'd like to do digitally, come to the LLC for help. Ms. Ratzburg is familiar with a ton of sites, apps, and software that can help you digitize your learning.

What if I want to play a DVD in class (teachers)?

The LLC has 10 portable DVD drives that can be hooked up to the teacher computers via 2 USB A cables. If you would like to sign one out (and borrow one of the DVDs in the LLC's movie collection), drop by and talk to Ms. Ratzburg.

(Also, because they are signed out to individual teachers, please do not pass them along to others to use - return them to the LLC to be checked in and then checked out to the person who intends to use them. This will help me keep track of our technology and make sure it's ready to go for people who need it and not disappear into the ether!)

How can I book the LLC space (teachers)?

If you’d like to book a day/time to use the LLC, e-mail Ms. Ratzburg and she'll add you to the calendar; alternatively, open the Google Slide calendar and add yourself in. If there are competing requests, priority will be given to groups who need to make use of the library resources and/or teacher-librarian. Please try to give as much notice as possible, it really helps me plan my day!
