This book is about a world in which the ‘big brother’ government has complete and total control. They monitor your actions and listen to everything, and they are in charge of reality. What they say is the truth is the truth and has always been the truth. The book is about a man who lives in this world and tries to fight it in his own way.

I liked the depiction of society, it seemed so far fetched when this book was written but a lot of it is applicable now, with cancel culture and a lot of monitoring of peoples actions going on, and more. I didn’t love the way it read, it was almost like a long thought process with no clear chapters. Personally, I like to be able to know what the goal of the book is and get excited for it, but this book was just a description of existing in a way.

I'd recommend this book to people who want to learn more about society, high school students or older.
