Monkey Beach by Eden Robinson

In Monkey Beach, the main protagonist Lisa tells the story of her past and cultural heritage living in Kitimat, BC alongside the quest in present day to find her brother who is lost at sea. It mixes the traditional with the supernatural in a mystery story.

I enjoyed the sharing of Haisla traditions and descriptions of the west coast. I did not like the ending because it was ambiguous: there was no real closure.

I would recommend this book to others!
