This book is about a well-off student who doesn't do well in the fancy schools his parents put him in. He is a teenager who doesn't think growing into an adult is a good idea.
I really like that the theme of this book is still a common issue today, even if the book was written in 1951. Mental health is a today issue and will be a tomorrow issue as well. This book has been banned in the past (and present?) because of vulgar language - however, teen songs today have way more offensiveness than anything in this book.
Essentially, the book is about being confused about growing up, the "phoniness" of adults. I think all teens can relate to this storyline.
