Nahri is a con-woman living in 18th Century Cairo. Ali, the second-born prince of a mythical djinn kingdom. The City of Brass is the first in a trilogy that follows these two on their separate journeys of self-discovery, that ultimately clashes when they finally meet. Deeply focused on Arabian myths, legends, and court politics, this novel shows the deep struggles of life and identity.

This book had great interpretations on myths. They were raw and so engaging and it made it easy to love so many of the characters. The pacing of this book was a little odd. I do understand it's a start to a trilogy, but it does end quite abruptly.

If you've read An Ember in the Ashes by Sabaa Tahir, I think you'll really like this book.
